19th EUCARPIA CONFERENCE

Genetic resources section

to be held in Ljubljana, Slovenia, May 26th – 29th, 2009




Dear Colleagues,

We are pleased to invite you to participate on the 19th EUCARPIA Genetic Resources Section Meeting. The Conference will be held in Ljubljana, capital of Slovenia between 26th and 29th of May, 2009.

The previous successful confenrence of the Genetic Resources Section in Piestany prooved plant breeders are interested in research and development of genetic resources, new tools to develop germplasm for the future needs and in preserving of genetic resources in national and regional genebanks.

The main topics of the conference will be:
1. Searching for traits
2. Rationalization of ex situ collections and sharing of responsibilities
3. Utilization of gene banks and gene bank accessions
4. Material for special products

Deadline of application for oral and poster presentations: March 6th, 2009. The conference is hosted by the Agricultural Institute of Slovenia, which is located in Ljubljana. You can reach the conference easily by plane, train or car from different directions of Europe.

Registration and accommodation details will be available shortly on the 1st circular website of the meeting (http://www.eucarpia.kis.si) and EUCARPIA homepages (http://www.eucarpia.org). It is recommended to register early. After April 15, 2009 an extra registration fee of € 50 will be charged. EUCARPIA offers a one year free membership for the non-Eucarpia member participants.
